Weekend Getaways

Weekend getaways are so much fun when they are inexpensive and easy to plan. Our getaways are usually to Grandma and Papaw's in Leo! Addison gets so excited when I tell her we are going to go to Grandma's for the weekend and we will get to see everyone. Her first statement this time was "and get presents?" My mother has created a monster!

Uncle Jordan is also a hit when we got to Grandma's. He is such a sweet guy and loves Addison so much it's crazy! Now, don't get me wrong, this girl has two WONDERFUL uncles, but Jordan has created a game that she loves to play so much! Looking back, I'm pretty sure he regrets ever introducing "penguin" to Addie because now she insists that he plays and he is only one who plays correctly! This game requires her to lay on her tummy and put out her "wings". He then slides her around on the kitchen floor while she laughs and laughs and laughs! He is so much fun and is always willing to get down on her level and be whatever she wants him to be! We are so blessed to have him and we love him so much!

I'll also give a shout out to Jarred who was in Tennessee playing baseball this past weekend while we were home. We always miss him when he can't come see us but are so proud of him! Also, a shout out to Danielle who lives in the computer. Every single time the laptop opens, "We skype Danielle? and Brittany!" hahaa!

I miss my family so much and love them more than words could possibly express. Sometimes it seems like we are worlds apart but somehow still so close. I LOVE YOU ALL and thank you for being the most wonderful grandparents, aunt, and uncles to my sweet baby girl! She loves you all so much!

Snowed in!

It has been a wonderful 2 days at home with Addie and kind of with Raymond. Raymond is working nights so he was home but asleep the entire time. Addison and I on the other hand were not sleeping but playing hard! We took full advantage of the fact that our car was snowed into the garage and didn't even bother to shovel ourselves out!

As a first time mom, I can't believe how much I love what God has called me to do. He has asked me to be a mommy to this wonderful, kind hearted little girl, and I gladly accept! She knows so much and has a heart of gold when she wants to! The little things she does for me, just like curling up in my chair and saying "mommy, I love you". Of course there are times when my patience are tested to the max. But even then, I know God is saying to me.... "this is just a taste of what you did to your mom and this too shall pass". Sometimes I think he does this just so that I can, once again, call my mom and tell her how much I love her and how thankful I am that she didn't put me up for adoption when I was 2!!

We are back to work and school now and are even more anxious for spring to get here. But we are thankful for the little vacations we get to just be home and be a family. Thank you God for snow days!!!

Thinking Spring!

Today all I can think about is spring. We have had one heck of a winter so far and I'm pretty much sick of it! The snow is so pretty at times and I love looking out into my backyard to see the white blanket that God has provided us.

But then I think about all the germs that are living in my house! It seems like we have all  been sick once or twice this winter. I am so ready to open my windows and feel the fresh breeze flowing through my hallways! Who's with me?!

Addie has been talking about going to the lake lately. Could be because that's Raymond and I's hot topic lately. It is so much work but the rewards are so worth it. We can't wait to dip our toes in the crisp water or throw a line off the dock (that would be more Raymond than me!). Addie remembers the boat and the pool (a kiddie pool grandma fills up for her and she "swims" in). I just remember all the fun we have together as a family and all the friends and family that make our summers so special! Ahhh! I can't wait for the warm weather to be here soon. Think spring everyone!

Potty Training

We have recently starting potty training Addison. She will be 2 next month and we decided to get a jump start on this process. Addison has shown a lot of interest in the potty and would go here and there if we begged her to do it. Now it's become a fun ritual that she loves doing! Last night, she stayed dry all through the night and then went in her potty first thing in the morning. Needless to say, I'm one proud momma!

It's so cute the way she gets excited about the potty. Monday night was the first day daycare helped us potty during the day. When she got home that night she went potty twice before bed! She would come running into the kitchen screaming "Mommy! I did a great job!". In return for her "great job" she gets gummy bears or I sneak in a gummy vitamin!

This is just the first week. Hopefully she can keep up the good work and we will have her completely potty trained in no time flat!
